There is a particularly virulent malware infection doing the rounds at the minute and by the nature that is changes so often antivirus providers are struggling to keep up with it.
CryptoLocker encrypts your data in such a way that it cannot be undone unless you pay their time limited “ransom”. The malware infection is designed to spread to all files on the network and as such poses a very significant risk to all businesses.
We have spoken with ESET today who are working on updates to counter this threat but in the meantime they have advised that ALL users are particularly vigilant, especially by avoiding :-
1. Clicking banners and links contained in many social network sites
2. Opening unexpected emails (FedEx Delivery, HMRC etc). Do not click attachments in unexpected, unsolicited emails no matter how official they look.
If you are unlucky enough to get infected with this malware please shut your machine down immediately and call Pro-Networks.
An image of an infected machine is below. It is imperative an infected machine is shut down immediately to help prevent the threat spreading to server files.
