Claire House Chosen For Movember 2013

Cancer is a terrible disease, but there have been great strides in conquering it over the past 10 years.

Last year, with your help, Dave raised over £1,000 towards fighting Prostate Cancer, during “Movember”. Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men. Each year, over 40,000 men are diagnosed with the disease. 10,000 men die of Prostate Cancer each year, which is more than one death every hour of every day! Awareness must be raised as well as research into treatments. Greater awareness leads to earlier diagnosis, which leads to fewer deaths. We will be supporting this cause again this year and look forward to your continued support.

For many years we have supported Claire House Children’s Hospice, and have donated in total over £16,000. Why? If you do not know about the work of Claire House then we challenge you to watch the 2011 BBC Children in Need appeal, click here , without feeling emotionally upset. Whilst £16,000 may seem a lot of money it will keep the Hospice open for less than 3 days! In fact, they have had to restrict their services in recent years due to lack of funds.

To help Claire House, as in previous years we will not be posting Xmas cards to clients but will, instead, send all clients a seasonal greeting by e-mail. We will then donate £250, which is the approximate saving in postage costs, etc. directly to Claire House.

How about increasing that donation at absolutely no cost to yourself? Simply reply to that e-mail. Say anything you like – it doesn’t matter but “Merry Xmas to all the staff at WatkinsonBlack” might be better appreciated than some other message. As in previous years we will donate an additional £1 to Claire House every time someone sends us a reply.

Keep an eye on this space over the next couple of months.
