The minimum wage has increased with effect from 1st October 2011. The main rate for adults aged 21 or over has increased by 15p to £6.08 an hour.
The rate for teenagers aged 18 to 20 has been increased by 6p to £4.98 an hour,and for 16 and 17-year-olds it has increased by 4p to £3.68 an hour. The hourly rate for apprentices engaged under the government scheme has increased by 10p to £2.60.
