Ring, ring.
“Good morning, Mr XYZ, my name is Fred Smith from Microsoft. We have become aware that your computer has been hacked and it is imperative that you take steps to repair it. To do so we just need a few details……….”
This is one of the latest scams to become prevalent, and you will be asked for personal details and possible bank credit or debit card details.
Don’t fall for it. Microsoft have said that they will never contact customers in this way.
That also applies to HM Revenue & Customs. Never give personal details in response to an unsolicited call or email purporting to be from HMRC and stating that you have a tax rebate due. Be very wary! If uncertain, ignore!
